Bovril Sweet and Sour Beef Sosaties

Makes: 6 portions   Cooking: Braai / Grill

Ingredients

Marinade

250 ml Olive oil (1 Cup)
1 Onion, grated
2 Garlic cloves, finely chopped (15 ml / 1 Tbsp)
5 ml Salt (1 tsp)
5 ml Black pepper (1 tsp)
30 ml Bovril (2 Tbsp)
15 ml Fruit chutney (1 Tbsp)
15 ml Thyme, chopped (1 Tbsp)
15 ml Parsley, chopped (1 Tbsp)

Kebabs

1 kg Sirloin steak, cubed
3 Red onion
1 Red pepper
1 Green pepper
1 Yellow pepper
6 Metal skewers

Method

  1. In a large bowl, mix all the marinade ingredients together.
  2. Add the beef cubes to the marinade and toss to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for 2 – 5 hours.
  3. Cut the red onion and bell peppers into chunks the same size as the beef. Thread the beef, onion, and bell peppers pieces onto skewers, alternating for colour and flavour.
  4. Place the skewers on a hot braai using a hinged grid or directly on the grill. Cook for 8 – 10 minutes, turning occasionally. Transfer to a platter or wooden board. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve hot.
