Bovril Potato Bake
Makes: 1 large bake (serves 6 – 8)
Preparation Time: 20 minutes Baking Time: 1½ hours
Ingredients
| 1.25 | kg | Large potatoes, peeled |
| 2 | Cloves garlic, chopped | |
| 30 | g | Margarine or butter (2 Tbsp) |
| 250 | g | Chedder cheese, grated |
| 10 | ml | Thyme (2 tsp) |
| 15 | ml | Bovril (1 Tbsp) |
| 250 | ml | Cream (1 cup) |
Method
- Mix together the cream, garlic, and margarine until well combined. Set aside.
- Slice the potatoes thinly and place in water to prevent discolouration.
- In the microwave, heat the Bovril in a small bowl for 15 seconds until runny.
- Using an ovenproof dish, layer the potatoes at the bottom. Pour a thin layer of cream over the potatoes, drizzle some Bovril over the cream, and sprinkle some cheese.
- Repeat the layers until all the potatoes, cream, Bovril, and cheese are used.
- Sprinkle thyme over the top layer.
- Cover the dish with a lid and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 1½ hours.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly to set before serving.
